Donde hay Ganges hay siempre gente bañándose en sus aguas. Según la tradición hinduista, todo aquel que se sumerge en el río sagrado queda limpio de los pecados cometidos con anterioridad al baño, de ahí que muchos indios e indias peregrinen hasta él al menos una vez en la vida para darse un chapuzón.

Alrededor del Gat de Har Ki Pauri podrás ver cómo hombres, mujeres y niños realizan abluciones casi a cualquier hora del día aunque es justo antes de la caída del sol, cuando en los escalones tiene lugar la ofrenda, cuando más ‘bañistas’ encontrarás, incluso podría decirte que 'bañistas en masa'.


Si lo deseas tú también puedes sumergirte en el Ganges (a esta altura el río aún no ha corrido mucho y no está contaminado en exceso). Hazlo siempre vestido y sin molestar a los demás, con muchísimo respeto. Y por supuesto en los lugares señalados al efecto, sin saltarte en ningún caso las cadenas de seguridad a no ser que quieras acabar en Venarés o más allá.
